One of the best lineups in Counter-Strike has today left their organization amidst internal troubles.
Team Solomids all-Danish roster had been hailed as one of the best in the world currently, but behind the scenes a dispute between the organization and player manager Frederik Byskov, as well as the distance between the European side and their American franchise, eventually caused a rift that led to the team seeking a new home.
Team SoloMid owner Andy “Reginald“Dinh fired Byskov in October after deeming him “surplus to requirements,” displeased that the manager wasn’t performing duties tasked to him on social media. But the players considered Byskov to be so valuable to their success that they used portions of their own salary to pay for their former manager to stay with the team as an independent agent, tasked with scouting out a new potential home for the team.
Today Team SoloMid released a statementrevealing that their relationship with the team was at an end now that their 2015 contracts have expired. “Allowing them to seek a new organization is for the best,” the statement read. “As TSM operates out of Los Angeles, the large time zone difference and distance separating us and the team creates large issues with accessibility.”
Moving forward Team SoloMid intends to remain in the Counter-Strike scene, but they will only be recruiting in North America, specifically to house the team in or around California. The former Danish lineup will now be looking for a new organization to move forward into 2016.
The former Team SoloMid lineup consisting of Andreas “Xyp9x” Hjsleth, Ren “cajunb” Borg, Finn “karrigan” Andersen, Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann, and Nicolai “device” Reedtz will feature in a few more events this year as they work out their future home. Tomorrow they play Fnatic in the semifinals of Fragbite Masters Season 5. Then on December 10 the team will head out to the ESL studios in Burbank for the ESL ESEA Pro League offline finals.
